Garett Gangelhoff joined the IDC as a hip hop instructor in spring of 2021. He has quickly become a favorite among the older hip hop students for his innovative and challenging choreography and his high-powered dance classes. His choreography for Page Dancer recently lit up the stage of the Elsinore Theatre during the IDC’s Spring Dance Recital.
Garett received his Bachelor of Science degree in Dance from Western Oregon University in June 2021. During his time at WOU Garett trained in Modern, Hip Hop, Jazz and Ballet, performing in works by WOU professors Les Watanabe and Cynthia Gutierrez-Garner and in a work by guest artist company Shapiro and Smith Dance. As a member of WOU’s Men Dancing Garett performed in two original works by Professor Darryl Thomas. Prior to joining the dance department at WOU, Garett trained in Hip Hop and Contemporary dance at MVP Dance Elite in Beaverton Oregon.
